Can a USB device physically damage the USB ports?
After connecting a portable MP3 player with a USB cable, vintage my laptop froze. I had to remove the battery to restart. After that, my sound card Realtek AC '97 and all USB ports stopped sound card is detected functioning.The WinXP, but is not able to "start" (error code 10). The USB ports do not show error but I intermittent "Messages wave." No further USB devices are now increasingly detected, including the mouse. When I connect the optical mouse, the light shines a little more than a second, then nothing happens. I tested the mouse on a PC. It works well. Is the damage internal circuitry of the reader mp3? The Player Works well before. However, he left to feed a few days ago. He plugged the drive in my laptop to find what was wrong. What I do now? Is this a software problem or hardware?
