Ham Radio amp, whats the most bang for the buck in ham radio amps?
im thinking the ameritron al 811 h maybe. but i wanna spend about half of what one of those would cost. which is i think a bit shy of 1000 bucks. so i suppose ill b lookin at more of a 500 watt amp. ne suggestions hams?
Universal radio has good prices. You might also look for the next hamfest, throw your rig and a high-power dummy load in the car. If you see something interesting there, give it a test. Hamfesters aren't trying to make money, they just can't bear parting with their stuff for nothing. This leads to good prices for stuff.
Remember: if your rig already puts out 200w, a 500w amp gives you 4.7 dB gain.
