What can I put the tubes in a Mesa Dual Rectifier for best pure tones, but maintain the distortion?

I'm looking to get a Mesa Dual Rectifier, and I know there are high-gain the reputation of how great is the distortion. But I also heard comments on how the clean channel is not very big, but not so great. And I heard the exchange tubes can help to clean. So I was wondering what tubes is proposed to better clean the table. But I do not want the distortion to determine the causes. thank you.

Great question! Able to respond well, which held a Mesa Dual Rec and after exchanging tubes Your'm a number of times! Well, it was a Tremoverb, so the premium version of the Dual Rec, but whatever. Firstly, I would not worry too much loss or gain have its own, it sounds good. Part of making his series Front is good to learn to balance the channels to sound good together. Dual Rec was a little dry sound to it, in my humble opinion, but I recommend you spend some time with him before firing tubes go spend money. There are many buttons and switches in these things ... Hell, even playing with the loop effect may have a significant impact on your tone, depending on how you use it! (one reason why Tremoverb sold .... Too many choices, and all seemed to interact with each other as well) If you will not play with tubes, preamp to try first - get a little different and try connect them in V1 and V4 (ie, the tube and the entrance to the phase separator). These will be major changes in how the amp sounds, and the Preamp Tubes are relatively cheap. Once you have a better idea of what I eat, then (after doing your research!) start thinking about feeding tubes. So let's break down quickly - tubes, Power Amplifier affects the overall sound the amplifier. More watts mean more volume, more room ... but also less distortion at lower volumes, for example. So if you want a good "handle" tone and sounds better at lower volumes, so you want less power ... to withdraw two of its Tube Power amplifier (if you an amplifier of 100 W) that is responsible. I consider it an option, at least. .... In terms of types, three are EL-34's, 6L6, and KT-66's you may want to do a little google that differences in different colors, but I can tell, Room 6L6 = more, while El-34 has an upper end Nice means crisp, but far fewer low-end response. In other words, EL-34 sounds more "Marshall" for me as 6L6s its "right". Remember not that you need to shoot the bias switch on the back before you replace 'em. Good idea to talk to a technician first guitar, and his power reaching a combined total. Preamp tubes have more to do with the tone, the development of distortion and saturation ... that the meat "of his tone, I suppose I could say. = Preamp's 12AX7 tubes. There are other types, but all are lower profit. Lower gain tubes means you have more space free and reduced distortion. My favorite brand is DD .... I really ECC803S tubes ... this gain is high, a good response and low medium Low range (length of the plate) and low (spiral filament noise). Great tips, especially for high-gain! The tube's most important in terms of profit is the first, nearest the entrance. In a voice distorted good that you want a high gain tube here. You do not want a tube gain high driving their reverb. This is a good place for a 12AT7. The tube separator is the last stage before the Output Transformer, and a large impact on the overall character of your amplifier. The low gain tubes tend to sound a little richer when high gain tubes .... so try 12AT7 or 12AU7. I like to Electroharmonix 12AT7 and EL-34's. I'm not a big fan of Sovtek. JJ is impressive, in my humble opinion. Ruby tend to have a sound Nice rich. Anyway, I hope this has helped a little. I put two links below. I pulled my two tubes Tremoverb and never had any problems ... These amplifiers are built pretty decently, you should not be a problem. With some amps, I can see what happens, but not in this case .... Good luck! Saul
